As liquid crystal display (LCD) glass substrates grow larger, traditional methods for packaging and shipping the glass become more cumbersome and less efficient. Corning has addressed this concern with an innovative packaging solution known as the Corning DensePak® system.
To prevent surface damage or breakage, conventional packaging requires a substantial air gap between each substrate. Only 20 large-generation substrates can fit into a standard case, making transport and storage highly inefficient for display manufacturers.
The DensePak system developed by Corning scientists and engineers enables the safe transport, storage, and staging of up to 500 sheets per case, in practically the same footprint as a 20-substrate case. This exponential increase makes transport highly efficient and dramatically reduces warehousing space and costs for display manufacturers.
