Fact Sheet
Corning Display Technologies is a worldwide leading supplier of large-generation glass substrates for the active matrix liquid crystal display (LCD) industry. LCDs are used in LCD TVs, desktop monitors, notebook computers, and electronics products such as video and digital cameras, cell phones, and personal digital assistants (PDAs). Corning’s substrates, manufactured through a proprietary fusion-forming process, help companies meet ongoing demand for devices that are larger, sharper, brighter, and more durable than ever before.
Today, Corning’s commitment to developing environmentally friendly products and processes continues with the breakthrough innovation, EAGLE XG™ glass. This green product advancement is the first LCD substrate free of added arsenic, antimony, barium, and halides. EAGLE XG enhances the position of LCD as the most environmentally friendly display platform available and has become the industry standard since its commercial launch in 2006.
In addition to its high-quality glass substrates, Corning is leveraging its expertise in emerging display and glass technologies with the following products:
-
Jade™ Glass for Advanced Display. Jade glass is designed to meet the unique requirements of low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) applications, providing a new solution for the growing number of high-performance mobile devices being produced using this technology.
-
Vita™ Hermetic Sealing Solution for OLEDs. Vita™ seals the OLED panel – which is highly sensitive to moisture and air – and eliminates the need for a desiccant and cavity etching, thus simplifying the manufacturing process.
-
Gorilla™ Glass. This optical quality glass is optimized for high-end portable devices and touch screens. It is scratch-resistant, durable and able to retain its optical characteristics after extended use.
-
Corning® Green Laser G-1000. The Green Laser G-1000 is required for high-performance micro-projectors because it enables quality images and a long viewing experience. The laser delivers a suite of performance attributes: high efficiency/long battery life, compactness, and high-resolution images with deep, rich colors
-
Silicon-on-Glass Technology. Corning’s silicon-on-glass (SiOG) technology augments display substrate glass with single-crystal semiconductor film of the highest possible electronic uniformity and mobility. It enables advanced on-panel circuitry and serves as a high-quality backplane for OLED mobile displays and other devices.
