Corning Technology Center (CTC)

The Japan-based Corning Technology Center (CTC) was established in 1982 to put technical talent close to customers in the rapidly expanding Japan high-tech industry. When liquid crystal displays (LCDs) emerged as a fast-growing market in Japan, the CTC lab was instrumental in establishing Corning’s strong position in display technology research and development.

CTC’s accomplishments in display include the qualification of Corning’s proprietary fusion process for the first-generation customer manufacturing lines. The center has been involved in the development of theory and measurements for critical substrate attributes and worked closely with Sullivan Park on display technology research, including the development of EAGLE XG™.

Scientists at CTC have developed world-class analysis techniques that allow them to simulate how a glass will respond to a customer’s process. With its convenient location in Shizuoka, CTC can also provide on-site technical support and training to Corning’s Asia Pacific-based customers.
