Research and Development Staff
Our scientists are the driving force behind our technology, supporting our customers through new processes and products. The fusion process, the foundation of our manufacturing advantage, exists today due to our incredible scientists and engineers. We continually work to make display glass increasingly larger, while maintaining and improving Corning’s leading attributes. Our research and development (R&D) team is comprised of staff with diverse scientific backgrounds and has a wide breadth of knowledge about display and all market segments that Corning serves.
Our value-added services include educating customers about our products, providing advice and consultation, and actively solving customer problems. We are flexible and willing to work cooperatively to accommodate our customers’ needs so that we exceed expectations.
For example, one of our customers with limited success resolving a problem with their process sought our help. Despite the fact that the substrate was not the source of the problem, we were happy to help them troubleshoot the issue. After carefully reviewing all aspects of the customer’s issue, our R&D staff identified the particular step in their manufacturing process that was the root cause of the issue. Since it was not financially feasible for our customer to change their process, we spent several months researching the best method to resolve their issue. Ultimately, we were successful and helped them to develop a cost-effective solution.
